Enhancing the High School Golf Experience with ScoreVision Tools

Written by Ashley Peterson | April 17, 2025 at 4:01 PM

When people think about high school sports and the use of digital fan engagement platforms, golf may not immediately come to mind. Unlike football or basketball, where you can access a display and score updates in real time, golf requires a different strategy for keeping fans and families in the loop. That's where ScoreVision’s suite of tools—particularly the Capture App, Publisher App, and Fan App—comes into play, offering unique ways for schools to elevate their golf tournaments and matches.

While ScoreVision doesn't currently offer a dedicated scorekeeping app for golf, our tools still provide meaningful ways for athletic departments and golf coaches to engage their communities and document their athletes’ performances.

Capture Highlights That Matter

The ScoreVision Capture App allows coaches or team managers to record and upload video highlights directly from their mobile device. These clips can showcase everything from a perfect tee shot to a clutch birdie putt. Once captured, these moments can be published to the ScoreVision Fan App in real-time, giving families and fans who can't be on the course a front-row seat to the action. Fans and spectators can also see updates and highlights from other holes as they follow along with their favorite player.

It’s a powerful way to keep fans informed, spotlight standout athletes, celebrate team camaraderie, and create content that lives on beyond the 18th hole. ScoreVision’s Capture App has a moderation feature, which allows the hosting organization to moderate the content that’s published onto the app.

Another tool you might consider using through the Capture App is our live streaming feature. While you won’t be able to have multiple cameras streaming to the Fan App, you could set up a stream for the last hole as players come in. We recommend posting an announcement with the general formatting in the ScoreVision Publisher App, notifying spectators and fans that the first group is about to tee off on hole 18, and then begin the stream.

Keep Fans Updated with Team and Individual Scores

Although live hole-by-hole scoring may be handled elsewhere (typically through tools approved by your state athletic association or the NFHS), ScoreVision’s Publisher App can post updates at critical moments during or after the tournament.

Schools can use the Publisher App to:

  • Share team scores and rankings after each round or at the conclusion of the event.

  • Highlight individual performance leaders—top scorers, most improved, or players with the longest drive.

  • Communicate event updates such as weather delays, award ceremonies, or team travel schedules.

This information can be published to the Fan App, where fans, parents, and even college scouts can follow along and stay informed.

Aligning with NFHS Scoring Rules

According to the NFHS Golf Rules Book, high school golf tournaments typically follow a stroke play format, with the top four scores of six players often used to determine a team’s total score. The lowest gross score for individual rankings determines the winner, though tie-breaking procedures vary by state.

By following these standards, coaches and staff can use the ScoreVision Publisher App to post accurate and compliant scoring summaries after the match, ensuring that fans receive credible and timely information.

A Better Way to Follow High School Golf

High school golf may not draw packed stadiums, but the players deserve recognition, and fans still crave connection. With ScoreVision, schools can capture the moments that matter, update the community with meaningful content, and showcase their golf programs in a modern, accessible way.

If you're looking to bring more attention to your golf team and provide a professional-level experience for your athletes and fans, ScoreVision is here to help—even without a traditional scorekeeping solution.
